Hello from Dagmar and John – and welcome to The Fabric Vault, Lichfield’s cosy, creative haven for fabric lovers, sewists, and makers of all kinds.
We’re a family-run fabric and haberdashery shop, built from a shared love of crafting, colour, and community. Whether you’re popping in for thread, browsing beautiful fabrics, or joining one of our workshops, you’ll always be greeted with a smile (and usually a good natter, too!).

From Lockdown Hobby to Lichfield’s Creative Hub
They say every stitch tells a story—and ours began during the quiet days of lockdown.
When the world slowed down, Dagmar rediscovered her love of sewing and embroidery, bringing a new sewing machine to life with handmade cushions, soft furnishings, and creative sparks that wouldn’t stop. John was there to support and nurture Dagmar’s creativity and together, we began showcasing her work at local classic car shows, where the response was overwhelming—and the idea for The Fabric Vault was born.
With backgrounds in education and retail, we combined our passion and skills to create something lasting: a space to inspire, support, and celebrate creativity. And so, in April 2022, we opened The Fabric Vault right here in the heart of Tudor Row, Lichfield
Upstairs: Our Creative Craft Studio
The heart of The Fabric Vault beats upstairs, where our dedicated workshop space is home to sewing machines, overlockers, and even an embroidery machine—ready to hire or use during classes.
